Abstract
Aim- To describe outcome following monotherapy with intravitreal bevacizumab injection for Retinopathy of Prematurity.
Method- This was a prospective observational study conducted from March 2021 to October 2022 of 150 infants admitted in NICU. After initial screening, babies were divided into groups based on stages of ROP. All infants received a single dose of injection bevacizumab. After treatment, babies followed up to observe the outcome.
Result- Among the 150 infants treated, 130(87%) showed complete regression of Active disease. At 4 weeks after Treatment, 83% (122) had complete involution of neovascularization. 20(13%) cases developed recurrence of ROP after initial signs of regression at a mean time period of 14.2 weeks after initial injection.
Conclusion – Our study suggests regression of plus disease and stage 3 are expected within the first 4 weeks after bevacizumab treatment. Recurrence may occur despite initial regression and requires careful follow-up.
