Abstract
PURPOSE: study on intraop challenges of in the bag foldable IOL implantation in paediatric traumatic cataract cases.
MATERIALS&METHODS:10cases of paediatric traumatic cataract are selected, necessary investigations-thorough slitlamp examination,Ascan, gonio,Bscan(if necessary)performed& planned for expected trauma complications during surgery, followed by manualPHACO/LMA &foldableIOL in the bag implantation.Intraoperatively trypanblue dye, can opener technique(multiple micropunctures)rhexis forceps,VED,anterior vitrectomymachine were at rescue.Trauma complications-corneal opacities, adherent leucoma, small pupil enabled difficult view&manipulation during surgery, inspite of whichIOL could be placed in the bag.RESULT:In 10cases 5had corneal opacities,4adherent leucoma,3small pupil,1zonular dehiscence. Also with post op steroids vn improved to nearly6/18 in most cases.CONCLUSION:In-the-bag-IOL-implantation can be achieved with meticulous planning&instrumentation led to good surgical outcome.
