Abstract
STUDY DESIGN-Hospital based,Prospective,ComparativetypeofInterventionalstudy;PURPOSE-TocomparetheefficacyofretreatmentwithBowman’s membranelenticuletuck-in in casesofcornealperforationpreviouslytreatedwithCyanoacrylateGluewithBCL;METHODS-In this study,patients of corneal perforation previously treated with cyanoacrylate glue with BCLwereoperatedwithbowman's membrane lenticule tuckIn harvested from therapeutic grade donor cornea after a preoperative baseline evaluation of patient ie BCVA,Slitlamp biomicroscopy,etc;RESULTS-There weretotal10eyesof10patients enrolledThe mean age&SD being49.8±13.19yearsThe epithelizationmeantimeinweeks was2.6± 0.69BCVA improvedfrom preoperative PL+PRAcc to 0.472±0.26Decimal units(pvalue<0.0001)CONCLUSION-Corneal perforations are relatively resistant to treat as available modalities are largely palliativebowman membrane isa true innate acellular layerofthecornea&provides scaffold for the epithelisation ofcornea&nerve growthwhichhelpinthe healing of thecornea
