Abstract

Aim: To present the diagnostic aspect of an ocular endoscope
Synopsis: Endoscopy can be very useful even in ocular diseases. It has a diagnostic as well as a management component – when combined with diode laser, it can be delivered to the ciliary body. It can also be used to guide surgery in the anterior segment, when cornea is hazy. In this video we will focus on the diagnostic aspect of the endoscope. It is quite versatile, and the camera provides views in tissues that are not visible to the naked eye, or at the slit lamp or even under a microscope – eg ciliary body and its characteristics in various aetiology of glaucoma, pseudoexfoliation deposition on the zonules etc. But by far the most significant purpose of an endoscope is to prognosticate when corneal opacity is present precluding view of the optic disc and the posterior segment.
