Abstract
Purpose: To analyze the FAZ qualitative and quantitative changes in patients treated with intravitreal anti-VEGF in NPDR and correlate with the visual acuity. Methods: The prospective analysis of treatment naive patients by OCT and OCTA to evaluate the morphometric changes at the FAZ before anti-VEGF injection and follow-up to 6 months. Evaluation of parameters of OCTA-images included the largest horizontal and vertical diameters of FAZ, area of FAZ and ratio between FAZ measured in superficial and deep plexus. Results:43 eyes of 36 patients were studied. On OCTA the FAZ Parameters remain statistically unchanged.Despite having no change in FAZ parameters there was still a statistically significant increase in BCVA and decrease in CFT (p<0.001) Conclusions: Our study showed that FAZ parameters remained stable throughout the period of intravenous therapy for the first 6 months. Thus implying that the anti-VEGF treatment did not have any deleterious effect or worsening of macular perfusion
