Abstract

Study design- Hospital based prospective study.

Purpose-
To study various demographic patterns and manifestations of ocular injuries .
• To find out various modes of injury.
• To assess the clinical features of ocular trauma in patients.
Methods –

A total of 100 cases of ocular trauma were taken.Written consents were taken from all the patients included in our study .Detailed history specific about age, occupation, time of injury and type of object causing injury and socio economic status of patient were obtained via pre-structured questions.
Results –

We found out that the anterior segment was involved in 74% cases, posterior segment in 4% of cases while combined injury was found in 22% cases

Conclusion-

This hospital based prospective study of 100 patients of ocular trauma was done to study the clinical and epidemiological profile of ocular trauma, at Santosh Medical College .
